{"id":21331,"date":"2022-12-29T15:06:45","date_gmt":"2022-12-29T13:06:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/minaretproject.com\/?p=21331"},"modified":"2023-07-18T15:44:28","modified_gmt":"2023-07-18T12:44:28","slug":"advanced-wef-nexus-training-at-municipal-level-in-tunisia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minaretproject.com\/advanced-wef-nexus-training-at-municipal-level-in-tunisia\/","title":{"rendered":"Advanced WEF Nexus Training at Municipal Level in Tunisia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Royal Scientific Society \/ National Energy Research Centre conducted a 3-days training on Water, Energy Food Nexus in Tunisia in partnership with the municipalities of Manouba and Raoued from 27-29 December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training aims to capacitate the project municipalities to apply Water-Food-Energy Nexus approach as an important framework for promoting a coherent, holistic and integrated implementation of the related Sustainable Development Goals, and secure access to the three critical resources in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training highlighted the importance of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding the synergies and trade-offs between competing uses of water, land and energy related resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Embracing a cross-sectoral, coherent and integrated perspective.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting the integration of goals across sectors and reducing the risk of sector-specific SDG actions undermining each other.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leveraging the local capacities and technical knowledge on how to implement efficient and sustainable climatic actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Over a set of sessions, the participants were exposed to the principle of WEF-NEXUS and its reflections in the Mediterranean region, and created a common understanding of challenges and potential opportunities in applying WEF Nexus technical solutions at their municipal level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MINARET II initiative is implemented in the context of the Nexus Regional Dialogues Programme, which is implemented by RSS on behalf of GIZ, and co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Royal Scientific Society \/ National Energy Research Centre conducted a 3-days training on Water, Energy Food Nexus in Tunisia in partnership with the municipalities of Manouba and Raoued from 27-29 December 2022.
