The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) / National Energy Research Centre (NERC) organized the Advanced WEF Nexus Training on 24 November 2022 for Ajloun Greater Municipality and Ma’an Greater Municipality.
The training aims at enhancing the capacities of project municipalities & key stakeholders specifically to plan, implement, monitor and effectively scale replicable NEXUS model.
The training followed different methodologies, starting from presentations to open discussions and working groups to sharing experiences as well as gaming approach to enhance knowledge sharing and identify synergies between WEF Nexus sectors in an integrated and ongoing process.
The workshop discussed the WEF Nexus approach, which uses the water-energy-food nexus to address challenges and take advantage of sustainable opportunities at the municipal level with regard to water, energy and food security.
Moreover, participants from Ajloun Greater Municipality and Ma’an Greater Municipality presented different suggested projects with the aim of obtaining the necessary funding to implement them on the ground and serve the local community.
This training is conducted by MINARET “The MENA Region Initiative as a model of the NEXUS Approach and Renewable Energy Technologies” in its second phase which aims at “Empowering Municipal Governance for Climate Resilience Using WEF Nexus Approach”.
MINARET II initiative is implemented in the context of the Nexus Regional Dialogues Programme, which is implemented by RSS on behalf of GIZ, and co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
